Choose your favorite fruit and squeeze some freshness into your creativity with this unique "no-sew" fabric art workshop!
Discover the relaxing, meditative Japanese art of Kinusaiga (絹彩画)—often described as "quiltless quilting" or "painting with fabric." In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to transform fabric scraps into a stunning, textured fruit design without a single stitch.
Participants will learn to transfer a design to a foam board base, cut precision grooves, and meticulously tuck fabric scraps into the slits to create a vibrant, finished piece of art. This is a fun collaborative class, where the fun isn't just in the making but in collaborating with friends and neighbors on fabrics and designs.
What You Will Learn:
Kinusaiga Basics: The history and techniques of this unique Japanese textile art.
Design & Composition: How to choose fabrics for texture, color, and flow to bring your crab to life.
The "Tuck" Technique: Using tools to tuck fabric into foam board, creating a dimensional mosaic effect.
Eco-Friendly Art: Turning small remnants and scrap textiles into high-end, textured wall art.
What to Bring:
Fabric Scraps: Bring your favorite cotton, poly/cotton, or non-stretchy, thin fabric remnants! This is a perfect "upcycle" project for cherished but unusable scraps. The teacher will also have scraps on hand but bringing your own will make it personal! Refer to the picture for the colors.
Your imagination!
