Give your denim a second life in this creative, hands-on workshop with instructors Blake Brenneman and Julie Antinucci! Explore the art of denim upcycling as you transform a well-loved pair of jeans, jacket, or other denim piece into a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art.

Experiment with appliqué, sashiko stitching, visible mending, and mixed-media techniques to add texture, color, pattern, and personality to your denim. Learn how to combine fabrics, decorative stitches, and unexpected materials to repair, embellish, and reinvent your piece while embracing the beauty of imperfection and the charm of handmade details.

Whether you’re looking to refresh an old favorite or create something entirely new, this class invites you to play, experiment, and make it your own. Bring your creativity—and a denim item (canvas jackets and pants work well too) ready for a transformation—and leave with a unique creation that tells your own story, one stitch at a time!

This class is meant to be a collaborationg between everyone, students and teachers. Blake and Julie will give some demonstrations on various techniques, like sashiko, reverse applique, applique, embroidery, painting on fabric, using adhesive materials with applique, adding found items, etc.

Please bring items you would like to incorporate into your denim piece, but also feel free to bring items to share like vintage linens, threads, lace, cool fabrics, stamps and inks, and other items!

Cancellation Policy 

  • All classes require registration and prepayment. Please check our website for our full class offering.
  • Classes may be canceled for low registration or for events outside of our control (weather, etc.) - if this occurs, a full refund will be offered to any registered participants.
  • There are no refunds for class cancellations. Any cancellations made 72 hours prior to the start of the class will be offered a “class credit” valid for six (6) months. There is no guarantee that the same class will be offered, and class credits are not transferable to store credit.
  • Cancellations made less than 72 hours prior to the class start or no shows will forfeit their registration fees in their entirety.

COMPLETING REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT FOR A CLASS INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CLASS POLICIES.
